Hi—
It’s been a while, hasn’t it? Believe it or not, yes, I am still here. Just not here, ya know? There is so much to catch you up on, and perhaps one of these days I’ll finally muster up the courage to. However, there are much more important things going on right now that need your attention. Let’s be honest, 2020 has been a lot. Like, a lot a lot. For starters, there’s a global pandemic going on, an unstable economy, and massive destruction from ongoing fires in the West and hurricanes in the South due to climate change. Not to mention the continued civil and political unrest due to the systemic and institutional racism, classism, ableism, sexism, etc. that this country was built on. Oh, and how could I forget? We just had one of the most important presidential (and senate) elections of our lifetime that will quite literally change everything! That and a messy and frustrating presidential transition enmeshed in disinformation and conspiracy theories that are eroding the fabric of our democracy. Trust me, I get it. It feels like every single day there is something new and mildly to extremely terrifying going on. It’s stressful, I know! Despite all the chaos and seemingly unending feelings of existential dread, there’s so much that is actually in our control here! It just requires all of us to put in the work and try!
Remember, impact requires both empathy AND action.
Just because we managed to elect Biden does not mean our work here is done. Without a majority in the senate, these major changes that we’re fighting for will be met with unending stalemates. Georgia flipped Blue for the presidential election, and now we have a chance to do that too in the January runoff election. Regardless of your circumstances, there are so many ways for you to get involved! It doesn’t matter how big or small, your involvement, voice, and actions do matter. They add up, and when we work together collectively… we can make real change! We just witnessed it! There is too much on the line to stay complacent! This is far too important, and we are running out of time. So, you want to know how to get involved? Here are a few things you can do to get started.
